Grandmother Thelma Portraits 2008
Portraits taken of my (Chris Pedersen's) Grandmother in her 100th year. A combination of formal portraits and candids. I'm a little embarrassed to say that some of the candids were taken by stealth, but they are also some of my favorites. (Grandmother, I hope you'll forgive me.) The pictures of her in her comfortable chair were taken during a typical mid-morning visit. She begins by reading a letter her daughter (my Mother) received from Buckingham Palace, then continues on to tell me a story or two. I wish I could remember what she was talking about when she put her hands up as if holding the reigns of a horse, but I was too busy worrying about her realizing that I was taking pictures to listen that closely. Fortunately, our friend (Nicole Quist) arrived just as my Grandmother asked me what the noise was that she kept hearing -- saving me from having to explain.
