Phoxle SpectraSnap Abuse Test
People always ask how rugged or resilient the Phoxle SpectraSnap white balance filters are, and whether the Spectresce coating on the front is particularly fragile. I thought I'd test it in an extreme way by attaching it to the wheel-well of my car before going on a long trip, and then seeing if it made any difference. Here's a photo-essay summarizing the results, and the bottom-line is that it made almost no difference at all. After 1700 miles, and being exposed to sunlight, the heat of the day, and whatever the tires through at it, the difference from the original filter was only 50 degrees Kelvin for a light source that is 5500 degrees Kelvin -- less than a 1% change!
